Last years I spent on country-wide critical software products for power stations and factories (SCADA), that works 24/7/365 in soft real time. It includes handling and analyse big data telemetry and device management. As part of that I implemented couple of specific protocols like C37.118, IEC104, Modbus, MQTT and so on. They was implemented on Java 8/Netty and C++14/Boost/Qt. It was some sort of IIoT (industrial internet of things). That's why I think that your project will not be a problem for me.
