Counter of two static switches with serial output.

I have had a quick look at your attachment - and I get the general idea. How soon do you need this work done? (I might be travelling over the next week - so even though this might only take a few hours I could not do it straight away.) We could put the pins attached to the switches in EXTI (External Interrupt) mode - so when the switches change the microcontroller is woken from low power mode. We might need to just implement 'debounce' for the switch. We could use the RTC to wake the device every 12 hours. NOTE: There is a big difference between SLEEP / STOP mode and STANDBY mode. (Personally, I would probably choose STOP mode.) I would probably use an STM32L05 discovery board for initial testing - and then port the work to the STM32L010 afterwards. I typically use STM32CubeIDE for STM32 projects. Would this be acceptable to you?
