Hello, Beautiful idea. More than 50 % of my projects, have had Stepper or Servo motor. I know how to soft start/stop Steppers and all servo motor working modes. I already have servo motor and stepper motor in my working room at home. so I can test the projects in my room. I think Arduino is enough for your project and working on Arduino is cost effective and faster than Raspberry. Working on projects like this(robotic), is my love. Hope to see your message.

Hello there! First of all, great idea. I don't know how you thought about using a linear guide, as they are unknown to people who are new to these projects. Surprisingly, I have done what you with lmg, some sensors, arduino once before but I didnt use a stepper motor then. I have checked out all the components you put up and I believe it can be done easily. I am up with using arduino/raspberry pi whichever one (it does not matter that much). I would like to treat this as a project and work on it together (coding sess if our schedule permits), figuring everything out as we go, discussing different options (what we can do), what each option means, the logic behind everything. I am preeeetty experienced, I enjoy explaining logic and even know a tiny little bit of french :). Get in touch to further discuss.
