We are looking for someone to do preliminary steel takeoffs for us from architectural drawing sets. We have found many outsourcing companies which can do drafting and design, but the difficulty is we can only speak with the company representative, and not with the person doing the work. Now we have the idea to hire a virtual assistant to post our requirements on Craig's list, interview and vet the applicants, to help us hire some freelancers this way, and to act as our liaison for communicating with the freelancers. It is our experience that the good drafters don't have good communications skills, and those with good communications are more expensive, so this might work. Because there may be other ways for an assistant to help us, we would like to start with this basic assignment and grow from there. We have a lot of difficulty understanding accented English over VOIP, so a clear speaker with good sense is necessary.
