T-SQL How to Insert Into from Table with Identity Column

Our tables have hundreds of columns and most are not used so they have null values in most of the rows. I want to do inserts from a temp table into a persistent table but I get the error that the column list must be specified. What is the script to allow the insert from the temp table into the persistent table with an identity column? Or, generate the Select and Insert Into statement for only columns that do not have all null values in the rows in the table.
