What you'll will need to do;
Create a few basic webpages. It doesn't need to be pretty looking, just simple forms which are functional as it will be integrated into another website later by our company later, so dont worry about that too much.
Create a page that has the following fields which will be inserted into the database
1. ID (auto increment)
2. Search String
3. Product Code
4. Lowest Price
5. Active / not active
Create a php script that will be run manually which will loop through those active items and go a webpage to retrieve the information:
Such as ; "[login to view URL]" probably using php's curl function or similar.
The website it is retrieving the search results from is pretty basic so i doubt it will require anything complicated.
Your script will retrieve the following information from that website and insert it into a new table. All this information is available on the external site.
1. id (auto increment)
2. price
3. short description (truncated to 100 chars)
4. store name
5. linkid (to link to above table)
There will be a third page where you can view the active items which have been searched and will only show results that are higher than the 'lowest price' field.
The whole idea is that we can run the script for the product codes in a way that I can easily see the information without having to do it manually. Because there could be more then 100 codes, you might need to introduce a way to avoid php time out for the script so it can complete the process if it takes more time then expected to go through all the items, if possible.
Requirements;
Code Only in PHP and use mysql database
I will setup a godaddy account for you to setup/test the script if you like.
