Stand-alone program generator. The generated program connects to a website and downloads data. The criteria for the data to be downloaded is a query, specified by point-and click navigation and the filling of text boxes.
The generator program has two modes: 1) a learning mode, where it learns the navigation and the boxes to be filled. For each box to be filled the user specifies a local table and field as source. This table is accessed via an ODBC connection to a SQL database in the local machine. 2) A program generator mode, where the program generates the stand-alone program that when launched performs the data download work.
We currently have a requirement to connect to may different websites, each having a different user interface. Instead of writing a separate program for each we wish to create a program generator which can then be used to generate site-specific executable programs that do the actual data download.
This task requires considerable programming skills and experience. We have an idea of the requirements, but not the specifics of the implemention.
We envision the development taking place in two steps: One, the creation of a site-specific download program. and 2) The conversion of this program to the universal program generator. This two-step approach is so the developer can learn the requirements. It will be up to the developer to implement the first part in such a way that it can be generalized.
A description of one such site to which we wish to connect and download data is attached.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
