Android Business Directory and Events Listing Application with Maps The application will detect the phone location, and display directory items that are located nearby. This is for a small downtown location, so the map zoom level should be very high near the area they are located. Ideally the list of businesses and events will come from an external source, this part will be setup to your preference. It could be a direct link to a MySQL database, or an XML file, or just some other method. This way the data listed inside the app will be easy to update and keep updated. The interface to update this back-end does not need to be created for this project. The application will have 3 main sections. 1. A map view with businesses shown on the map with business title listed, when clicking on the name the detailed information is to be displayed. The map view should have a method to select or deselect only certain categories to be displayed on the map. 2. A list view, which is a simple list of all the businesses grouped by business category. The detailed listing for each view should also include a link to view on a map as well as “navigate to”. 3. Event View, which will list all the events in chronological order with Event Name and event date showing, and tapping on each event Name will display the detailed information about the event. The category list for businesses can come from the same external source, or can simply be a distinct value from each existing business in the directory.
