Hi, I have 11 years of experience in installing, operating and troubleshooting/optimizing VMware vSphere infrastructure. There are some reasons that causes your server to be ping-able, it may come from guest OS settings (e.g firewall), or ESXi settings (teaming policy, vlan settings) or external switches.
