VB6 High-Quality Interface Redesign

Hi, I'm looking to hire someone for an extended job of overhauling the interface of my existing software product. This product has been around for a while and has a dedicated fan base, so it's fairly popular, you may have even heard of it before... but over the years the interface has become rather out-of-date with today's styles and I'm looking to overhaul all the windows that make up the software. There are many windows, so this job will start with just one area of the software, but I'm hoping to build a good working relationship with someone here that will continue to redesign all the other areas too if the first job goes well. If you are serious about this job, you should know that it will be quite a large project, but as I said it will be broken into pieces so if you do a good job on the first part then I will want to likely continue with the same coder for the other areas of the software. This is a recent development that i have added and you'll notice that it looks a lot different than the rest of the windows and forms in the software. This will be the new direction of the software, and I hope to basically have all the other windows become one with this window... that means adding and removing controls on-the-fly. I will provide clear directions about what I want each area to look like, and I will piece it all together since you will not be given the entire source code but only some parts of what should be needed to do your interface work. You will not be asked to provide design ideas, although your feedback is welcome, but I have a pretty clear vision for what I want to have done to the interface and I could certainly do it myself but I have my hands full with a lot of other work so I'm hoping to get someone else to do this for me while I focus on other tasks that are not so easy to outsource to vworker. Yes, VB6 is very easy language, but I still need someone that has done a lot of work with it and will know how to accomplish what I am asking for with me providing on general direction and existing functions that might help you. I do not want to have to spend a lot of time overseeing that the job is being done right, although I certainly will be ensuring that everything is headed in the right direction and I'm always happy to help with any questions that you might have, but again I don't want to be eating up a lot of my time making sure that someone else can do this right, so experience getting the most out of VB6 is important. Again, I can help you get started with this, but the idea will be to create something like a toolbar at the top of this window that will allow this same form to access different ares of the program that currently exist as other windows. You'll notice that this is done in something of a "web style" so that will be how I want the new interface to look... something like a website inside the desktop software. I will provide clear directions about what I want each area to look like, and I will piece it all together since you will not be given the entire source code but only some parts of what should be needed to do your interface work. If you close the download menu and return to the main launcher, you'll see there is a PREFERENCES link. Click that and you'll see a small window appear. On that window there is a DEVICE SETTINGS button that opens another window, and on that window there is an ADVANCED SETTINGS button. Then there is even a CALIBRATE button there too. You first task if you are chosen for this job will be to take this area of the program and create it in the style of the Download Menu. Again, I will be more specific about what I want, but it will involve reworking these controls into the new larger "web style" interface and take all these windows and have it be just one window. This is why it will be important to add/remove controls on-the-fly because otherwise the window will use entirely too much memory to have all these controls exist permanently on the form. If this job goes well, then we will create another vWorker project to outline the next phase of the redesign. I need someone that is not only a strong VB6 developer, but also someone that speaks good English because you and I will have to communicate a lot to get this done properly. You will not be responsible for any graphic design or anything like that, so you can use the existing icons and images, or placeholders as I will have someone else do graphic work. Your task will involve positioning the controls (add/remove on-the-fly), and getting the interface itself to work within it's own context to output the results that need to be saved to the existing system. So in other words, you will just make the form so the user can select his options/settings/preferences, and the output the data to the rest of the program to be saved. So you won't have to worry about how any of that is done, your form will basically stand alone... I will provide you input for the existing settings, and you will provide output for the modified settings. If you have any questions about this job before you bid, then please ask... again, I am very much looking for someone to do the entire software in this new style, and if you poke around at other areas of the software, you will see the other areas will be more challenging in that regard, so this will be something of a trial run to see if you and I can work together to achieve what I am envisioning for the end result. Please do not hesitate to ask your questions about the overall goals of the project, and as mentioned above, I will be happy to answer more specific questions about how things should be done once you have been selected. One final note, there is a "slide effect" that you may see when clicking the "Download" buttons on the Download Menu... if you cannot see that then your video card was detected to not be fast enough to produce the effect smoothly. This will not disqualify you from the work, however, if you are on a fast computer and can see the slide effect, that will be a plus and I would appreciate you mentioning in your bid if you saw this or not.
