Downloading and processing NetCDF files with Matlab or Rlanguage

I need to learn how to download the GCM data for AR5 (CMIP 5) both daily and monthly rainfall and temperature data. the downloading will be learnt from a specific location and how to process the downloaded NetCDF file into a daily or monthly data set. this can then be converted to text file. The processing will be and conversion can be done in MATLAB or R language. this is just for me to learn how to do it with few examples. I don't need it to be down for me but I need to be taught.
