Overhaul of current website and maybe logo revision

I currently have a shopping cart (CS-Cart Software) web site which is not producing results, in fact I have closed the store front for now. I'm not satisfied with the logo, appearance or function that the web designer designed for me/ However after meeting with them several times. endless phone calls and emails, we don't seem to be making headway. They are now suggesting adjustments that I believe should have been addressed in the beginning, and requesting I tell them what should be done, the only input I can offer is sites, designs, ease of checkout, etc. that I like and feel would be user friendly for the average computer person. My product consists of customers uploading their image, selecting border/color as well as font/size/color/location and then of course, checkout, I prefer to use Pay Pal, initially I was contracted with AuthorizeNet/Cybersouce for credit card payments, I don't want to go that route again. I can always reopen the store front for the freelancer to look at the site, this individual should know software and the front end and back end of a site.
