Email issues - Oscommerce

We are having problems with emails. Email is working fine however we are getting lots of "Mail Delivery Subsystem". Most of them has to do with mail being received from localhost or reverse dns not found etc. We are not running mail server since oscommerce doesn't require that. We do have sendmail running and listening on port 25. I believe oscommerce uses mail class script / function. We need someone to modify the email class so these issues are gone. This will definitely require someone with oscommerce experience.
