Need to write a very basic XPS printer driver for MS Windows based on code we have for an older printer driver

We have an old Windows PostScript printer driver written in C. This driver does not really print - it simply writes the PostScript file to a temp location and sends a message.

We need a brand new XPS printer driver for Windows, which does the same thing: Saves the XPS file and sends a message. All the relevant code from the original driver will be made available.

Please reply with a brief description of the difference between XPS and PostScript, so that I know you understand what the project is about.
