Native android module for uploading images in background for react native app

I have a react native app used on android devices that uploads a large number of photos. I want the uploads to be able to progress in the background when the app is not open. To do this, I need a custom android module.
The app currently manages the image upload iteratively. There is an array, uploadPhotoArray, with the file path for each photo that needs to be uploaded in the [login to view URL] file. Each image is uploaded in chunks, see more detail in [login to view URL] for reference.
The custom module needs to work for Android 8.0+ in background without user needing to use app for it to still work.
