<Overview>
Please collect product information on vehicles that have or will have the technologies described in the “Technology Description” section below.

<Technology Description>
This technology is designed to strike a balance between user convenience and vehicle security in vehicles that the engine is remotely operated for pre-conditioning using a user terminal such as a smartphone.
To initiate remote pre-conditioning, the vehicle starts its engine. If the engine is left running, there is a risk that the vehicle may be used illegally by a third party other than the user. In order to prevent this unauthorized use, the vehicle may be equipped with a function that automatically stops the operation of the engine in response to the detection of a riding motion such as unlocking the door. However, if the engine is stopped even by an authorized user, the user must start the engine again. This reduces user convenience.
To solve this problem, after the remote pre-conditioning is executed, this technology allows the engine to continue to run and permits use of the vehicle only when (i) a prescribed release operation, such as braking, is detected and (ii) the presence of the smartphone in the vehicle is detected via wireless communication. On the other hand, in other cases, the technology stops the engine from running and prohibits the use of the vehicle.
