What's Shakin - Thank you for taking the time to stop by my Logo Contest! My name is Austen Peters, creator of Cape Fear Mug Co. based in beautiful Wilmington, NC - A coastal town filled with charming history, a WWII Battleship, and beautiful beaches. As Covid began at the beginning of 2020, it left us with an obscene amount of time to take up new hobbies. While some were joining virtual knitting circles or Netflix binges day over day, I began my search for the perfect cup of coffee at home. 10 months down and copious amounts of caffeine later, I have accomplished my goal but there was something missing...A mug that was worthy of my morning ritual. Thus, Cape Fear Mug Co. was born an elegant and elevated brand, providing the highest quality custom mugs, at a price that feels even better than one of our mugs in your hand (Although it is a close competition!).

A Brief Synopsis of Myself - I am a 24-year-old Real Estate Broker and Entrepreneur, self-proclaimed old soul residing in coastal NC. I left university early, in 2017 to pursue my personal ventures and Cape Fear Mug Co. is my newest. I am all for “purple-cow” marketing or unconventional means of making something happen. If there is anyone entrepreneur I appreciate most, it is Steve Jobs for his ability to blend beautiful typography and simple design and that is what I am asking of you, a beautifully simplistic design that can play upon both principles.

What am I looking for in a logo? I want you to have complete and absolute freedom to run as you wish with this project. Below I have included some of my initial thought to use as a framework for the design. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.

- Shape
o Again, unconventional is my thing so I had envisioned the shape of a mug with an interior design featuring “Cape Fear Mug Co.”

- Color
o I like dark/off colors with a matte finish to them (if that makes sense) but will leave the color to your artistic interpretation, as I am confident you will produce beyond what I had imagined!

- Font/Typography
o Typography to a logo is like shoes are to an outfit - The “shoes” set the tone for the rest of the “outfit”, the “outfit” in this case being everything excluding the typography. Please, Please, PLEASE make sure the “shoes” are representative to an elegant and elevated brand.

- Design
o I have provided a few examples of logos that I liked for the detailed, yet simple approach and straight forward message.

After a few rounds of designs thus far, I would like to aim for my logo to be in the shape of a coffee mug, incorporating "Cape Fear Mug Co." either within the mug or beneath it. Please experiment with color options and fonts. Thank you!
