MSCS Consulting needs a brand logo.

I have recently set up a management consultancy firm, specialising in strategic advice to UK Government Departments and large multinational firms. The type of work undertaken is often confidential so I need a brand and logo that looks discrete and professional, but not too basic that it is easy to forget (so NOT like a Big 4 consultancy firm).

My business is called MSCS Consulting. The inspiration for the name is from the Latin “Mens Sana in Corpore Sano” - “Healthy mind in a healthy body”. This reflects the ethos of my company:
- There are complex 2-way interactions between systems that are not always obvious
- To solve a strategic problem you first need to consider the whole system of influencing factors, collect and analyse evidence that supports these ideas
- You can then fully understand these complex systems and how they imact your organisation
- Once the systems are fully understood you can generate a range of viable solutions
- Selecting the right solution will lead to sustainable benefits and improvements

Logo must haves:
- Must use the letters “MSCS” & "Consulting"
- Must look good on a website and business card
- Must look modern as a future business area is Big Data / Cyber

Logo must NOT:
- include Latin words
- Include any graphic of brains/bodies etc - I do not want to look like a personal trainer!

Ideal logo would also:
- look good on both white and dark grey backgrounds
- have a colour scheme that can be easily adapted to corporate colours in presentations etc

This is an initial contest but I hope to build a relationship with a designer for future projects.

    Hi all - there's some great recent entries. I like the circular aspect of design - showing the 2-way feedback loops, and the careful use of colours to ensure that the logo is eye catching while remaining sophisticated. I'm confident that a number of the designs and designers will reach a product that I can use, so I have made this a GUARANTEED competition. Thank you for your continued efforts and patience.

    For colour schemes I would like to try Navy Blue, and the purple to be between a red & magenta. The red will probably have to be darker to balance. Would be great to see some of the 3 star designs updated to reflect this

    A guide on the scoring 5 stars - This design will win the award unless a better entry appears. 4 stars- This design is almost at 5 star level, just needs some tweaking to design/color/font. 3 Stars- Some good aspects to the design and has potential. 2 Stars- has met the fundamentals of the brief but currently shows low potential to win. 1 Star- does not meet all the brief fundamentals

    Thanks everyone for the submissions so far. There are some really high potential entries. I would like to see some more options using a bold colour scheme. Think Sky, BBC 3 and new instagram logo;

    Another design element that I have settled on - For the "M" typeface I prefer the middle point to be raised rather than on the same baseline as the legs

    Some ideas on colour - Blue for knowledge, red for energy & determination, purple a combination of the two. This could possibly provide the colour pallet that works? Possibly M in blue, C in red, S in purple? http://www.color-wheel-pro.com/pics/gsinfographic1(color)large.jpg

    Other design thoughts - which may or may not work - 1. could the letters be joined in some way to show the concept of interconnectivity? Or a graphic suggesting the same? 2. I like typefaces that are tall & elegant, rather than blocky.

    Thank you for the continued interest. Things that I like so far include: 1. Use of the word "Consulting" in the logo. 2. Use of colour. Blues look good, but combination of other colours also quite attractive. 3 - sophisticated colours and shading work much better than block/basic colours.

    First 8 entries have been too basic - eg only primary colours used, little in the design to make the logo stand out or be memorable
