The book is in Somali (an East African Language). It is the first of a series of textbooks to be published, all with the same style and look. Size is 276 x 219 mm (Demy Quarto), portrait. Colours: blues, white and greens, but also suitable for the cover image. We are flexible about colours.

Biology is the study of life. So there should be at least one picture of a living thing on the cover. “Somali Ostrich” is a species unique to East Africa and we would like to have it on the cover. There are some images of Somali Ostrich on wikipedia under creative commons licenses. I have added the links for some of them here. You can use others if you like, on the condition they are free to use. You can also have more than one image on the cover.

This is the first high school biology textbook written in Somali in almost 30 years. It is a part of a series of books covering all the four years of high school. It provides very clear, well-illustrated information for the students to develop their understanding of biology. It does not assume any prior knowledge of the subject and focuses on the principles of the subject to give the students a deeper understanding of biology and why living things are the way they are. It relates the structure of living things to their functions.
