Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing has been the preferred candidate for broadband wireless communications over the years. However, it suffers from the problem of high Peak-to-Average Power Ratios (PAPR) which causes inefficient use of the High Power Amplifier. In this paper, we propose a hybrid PAPR reduction technique based on FFT/IFFT tone reservation and the Selected MappingTechnique (SLM) with no side information.

In order to solve the high Peak-to-Average Power ratio (PAPR) problem in high speed wireless system, a hybrid PAPR reduction method is produced in this paper. By using both Tone Reservation (TR) and Selected Mapping (SLM) techniques we can develop an optimal and simple PAPR reduction technique for high-speed wireless OFDM systems.
