The aim of the project is the simulation of high-resolution climate information for Southern Peninsular India (SPI). Another objective is the projection for the future and studies how extreme events vary in the future under different scenarios. For generating the simulations, CMIP5 data serve as the boundary conditions for the model run. The regional climate model used in RegCM4. Since the quality of the output produced by the regional climate model depends on the boundary conditions, a study was conducted to identify the CMIP5 model that best represents the seasonal climatology and climate variability for the Southern Indian Peninsular domain. Performance metrics were used to test the ability of CMIP5 models to capture the observed monthly mean and variability over the region using MRI-CGCM3 was found to be the best performing among its contemporaries. High-resolution climate simulations were done and analyzed for the selected domain.

The work was regarding the research paper. I had to Weather Forecast and Research modelling of precipitation and Lightning Potential Index (LPI) over the Antarctic peninsular region. The simulated output is analyzed using statistical techniques.

A total of 32 rainfall events spanning the period from 2012 to 2014 over the urban Indian city of Bangalore were simulated using the Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) model. Model simulations were carried out with a four‐nested domain initialized with Global Forecast System (GFS) data and the forecast was generated on an hourly basis. The forecasted rainfall at hobli level (Bangalore has 34 hobli divisions with an area of each hobli of the order of about 10 km2) was evaluated.

This study is about the impact assessment of different land-use data sets on the simulation of an Extreme Rainfall Event (ERE) which is one of the unusually rare events that occurred between 14th to 18th of June 2013 over Uttarakhand in India. In this work, high-resolution (2-km), time ensemble simulations are carried out using Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRFV3.5) with a 3-nest configuration.
