I have to realize a dos script shell in order to manage a files backup rotation using 4 Folders: Production, Today, Yesterday, Week. Each day I have to: - copy a file from Production to Today (overwriting the existing one) - compare the file in Today with the file in Yesterday (out of scope) - move the Yesterday file into Week folder addding its creation date (Eg: [login to view URL] --> [login to view URL]) - copy Today file into Yesterday I need a script shell with 3 functions (Copy, Move and Move_and_Rename) to call with parameters from the first rows of script. I have to manage 4-5 files, so will be used 4-5 blocks of call. If a command fail must give back an error. Script must be scheduled on a Windows 2012 server.

Must it be DOS? All of what you want is achievable through powershell. I personally have been automating server operations like this for a company thay I am employed by as an IT Systems Admin.

Hi Employer, I have did similar type of work in my company for a BFS client. So I can complete this effectively within quoted time and amount. If I get an opportunity to get work on this, I will write a bat script with following modules. Function 1: Move the files from Yesterday directory to Week directory by renaming the file with yesterday time stamp. Function 2: Move file from Today directory to Yesterday directory Function 3: Copy files from Production directory to Today directory.l Will call all the above functions from the mail function.
