Part 2 - Building an E-commerce Website
The theme of the ecommerce website is online computer store selling both new and used computers. The overall task is to design, implement and show the process for producing an ecommerce website. provide evidence of capability to independently solve new problems through testing, research and reflection. The requirements shall include:
Researched and reflection on usability and web design
Customer registration and login
Product display and search capabilities
A shopping cart with full functionality
Checkout with customer integration
Administrative login with access for viewing orders and product management
Evidence of the problem-solving process
Marketing your website: Search engine visibility and tracking
There are 4 tasks to complete
Task 1: Researched and Reflection
evidence of themed website research on 2 related works
evidence of reflection on usability and web design crossing reference changes against the theories of Jacob Nielsen.
Task 2: Problem Solving Process
Show problem-solving process for the following 4 critical software tasks implemented
product display and search.
customer registration and login.
shopping cart and checkout
administrative management function
Note:
Provide screen shots of error messages.
Provide an evaluation of the cause of each problem.
Provide a technical explanation in your own words
Provide edited coding of the solution of each problem (screen shots of source code in web editor)
Task 3: Marketing Your Website
a)
Register a .com or .[login to view URL] domain name specific to for your website via domain name registrars such as HYPERLINK "[login to view URL]" cheapdomainnames, HYPERLINK "[login to view URL]" 1&1 and HYPERLINK "[login to view URL]" godaddy.
Set web-forwarding to your server account at focserver hosted artefact URL and test for web masking.
Set domain email forwarding to your personal email.

Establishment of artefact URLs on search engines.
Establish 5 in-links to your artefact URLS (not from your site to others!).
Set keywords and description meta-tags and page title.
c)
Provide the results for the application of Google Analytics and other web analytic tools such as Alexa for the tracking of your website visibility and search engine ranking and provide critical evaluation of the obtained results and any modifications taken in light of results obtained.
Task 4: ecommerce website
Provide an on-line e-commerce site for a customer to go shopping (interact with an on-line database).
Customer login/register with details with validation of field data entry and password protection.
Product search and display function with showing of product images, description, and prices.
Shopping cart including different products with product unit price, quantities, and total shopping cart order value.
Checkout including integration with customer file, form field validation, presentation with order confirmation page.
Administrative management function for viewing orders and product management
Site design and colour quality to good standard across home page and other pages.
Individual home page banner development.
Domain name forwarding operational.
Delivery and Guidance:
Implement application using Visual Studio [login to view URL] with C#, Oracle database, FTP, image editor tools.
The home page must be stored at root folder of your web account and have hyperlinks to all tasks.
There should be no back button from the artefact to the documentation tasks.
