We have a list of terms in English which need to be translated to Chinese (Simplified or Mandarin) -- AND/OR -- Chinese (Traditional).
All characters or symbols in the translation only need to be represented in their UNICODE equivalent values. These "values" can be obtained using Windows' built-in Character Map program (type in '[login to view URL]' at the Run command line off the Start Menu). ** We do not need the actual Chinese symbols in the translation. We only need the Unicode translation for each symbol (EXAMPLE: one symbol might = Ö. A three(3) symbol translation might look like: Öäó).
The CharMap program allows you to select different fonts and any special characters supported by a particular font are displayed -- along with their corresponding Unicode value (in the bottom left corner status bar).
For this project, we would like the translation done using Microsoft JhengHei (for Traditional Chinese) and Microsoft YaHei (for Simplified Chinese).
A proper and articulate translation is mandatory. However, we appreciate and acknowledge that sometimes a "closest match or best substitution" is both necessary and acceptable.
Based on a positive experience and validated results, the successful worker may receive on-going requests as our dictionary of terms increases.
