I'm building an application using Lazarus 1.6 + Free Pascal 3.0 + Firebird 3.0. It's simple database that will be used to process data for sociological qualitative research (i.e. I'll work with pieces ox texts in HTML format). I'm a sociologist and used to be a programmer a long time ago, I still love coding but I'm out of shape now... This is an Open Source project and will be used to help other researchers construct analytical models of community development issues, I mean it will be used to help poor communities thrive in a sustainable way. Well, the program is working fine, but I need to adapt it to work in a network context (internet). The problem is that I don't know how to work with transactions, right now all the application it's working inside a single transaction. I need a programmer that could help me to: 1) use transactions (and rollback) in a correct way 2) lock registries and tell other users to wait for the registry to be unlocked. 3) Database error handling correctly. I'm sending a piece of my coding style as a sample.

Hi, how are you. I am Delphi/Pascal expert with years of experience in various areas including distributed database and client/server systems. From your code it seems you're using Firebird which I'm an epert for, also transactions there are straightforward. Can you share a bit more details about your app, is it right now single computer application and you would like to make it client/server application?

Hi. These issues should be solved on server side. Client application does not have to think about them. And there is only "select" requests in your code sample. Can you show inserts and upgates?
