Okay so this is what I do day to day for my clients. Let me give you a taste of what can be expected. Q: How can i assure that the programmer did his job in right and perfect way? So you are into e-commerce and need to have a web and Mobile App front for your store. You can use wordpress,Magento or Prestashop which are the most common open source e-commerce platforms out there. Basically they are free but if you need features you pay extra for extensions/plugins. The advantage is that you have complete control over your store. A good developer can set this up for you with all the features you want. A Mobile App will have to built separate based on this store. The disadvantages: You have to take care of your e-commerce site. Hosting, traffic etc matters. needless to say you also need to have a developer in your pocket (always). These platforms update and you also need to update your site based on that. Also you will have to make sure nobody hacks you. This is a whole separate headache. Verdict: This can be cost effective over a long run but comes with headaches of management. There are other solutions which are self hosted. Ex: SHOPIFY. They comes out of the box and all you have to do is do some groundwork to set up the store and add products. No headaches over updates/hosting etc etc. Also you don't have to worry about Security as we do not manage the servers. Disadvantages: You may find some advanced features missing but That is not a deal breaker. Lets discuss forward

During this time, I have worked with many developers, and covered many projects - including the launch of an online payments platform. telephony system deployments, reporting system developments etc. I have a good appreciation for the types of questions you have, and the challenges you experience. I would like to suggest that we start out with a 3 hour consultancy at $20 per hour. During this time it would be good to review the following: - the scope of your project and your ultimate output, plus anything that makes your requirements unique/different - how we communicate requirements to a developer, and how we ensure that he/she delivers on them (NB! it's a good idea for you to budget for someone to test your website as well, and this person should NOT be the developer) - other aspects of business that you need assistance with (marketing etc.) I have launched an online shop that I run as well, so have been through the process end-to-end. I have not yet developed my own app, however have covered this in my corporate life, so could give you some guidance in this area.
