Hi,
This proposal is to work with you to adapt your book into a screenplay of approximately 100 pages.
In case you’re not aware, the actual writing of the script is probably only 50% +/- of the effort.
The rest goes into reading the book and analyzing the characters, plot, reveals, conflicts, settings, and dialogue to mention a few of the elements that are to be addressed.
Before I would even start the script, I would read and mark up the book. Then I would create an outline that would follow the industry, 3-act standard.
Then, we would have an online chat of 20-30 minutes about the outline. Once we agree on the outline, I would write the script.
It is far easier to find a problem and fix it in the outline stage than to write the whole script only to discover flaws in it—I speak from experience on this.
I judge everything I work on against the principles in two seminal works on writing screenplays: John Truby’s “The Anatomy of Story” and Robert McKee’s “Story”.
FYI, I have read at least 100 award-winning, produced scripts over the years so I have developed a good sense of what works and what doesn’t.
This background knowledge would come to bear in the development and execution of this project.
I use milestones in my proposal, so if you have any questions about what they mean, please chat. I would be honored to work with you.
Best,
Kent
