Hello, I am a Civil Engineer with solid background in steel structure design and I have access to a team of valuable civil engineers and structural analysis gurus specialized in steel structures. They have designed steel hangars very similar to your carport, with 3 spans each around 7m. I would like to know if the design has to be compliant with the AS 4100 Steel structures standard or the cold formed AS/NZS 4600 standard, since freelancer shows you are from Australia? I would like to get a soil analysis of your carport area as well. It’s advised that you take out the soil tests at an certified Australian soil test lab, or if you prefer you could send the samples and I will get it tested in the soil labs of Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University. If you could also share with me the location of your structure in order to get related wind load data and wind speed averages as well as temperature plots for your area to take into consideration during the design. I have also worked on structural health monitoring if you want to install some monitoring strain gauges into the structure however this is totally optional and probably not required in your case. Let’s talk to discuss any other details and agree on the standards as well the required tests so we can start with the design as early as possible.
