I am a 45 year old author who has written a series of books (16 so far)since I left working in child protection with the police after a twenty year career where my final assault left me with PTSD, anxiety and depression, unable to ever work again. I started writing on the 12th December 2015 and have since written the first series of Abigail- The Golden Glow which contains 5 books of 200k words along with two spin off books of 140k words. The second series is also 5 books of 200k words and I have written two books in the forth series of 200k as it was initially going to be the 3rd series until I decided I needed a prequel in between, which I am writing now and just beginning the second book in the series. I have written over 2.9 million words. I have been offered a contract from a publishing house however as they would only sign my first book, not guaranteeing the others in the series would be available to my readers, as I don't want them wasting good money on a series they wont get to finish. I intend to self fund the publishing of my series and am looking to work with an editor who has LOADS of experience, is passionate about historical fiction although my series does change across the genres despite being connected, must have an eye for detail as I am a perfectionist (but not hard to work with). The person must want to commit to the entire project and beyond as I would like the same editor to do all my books so they are consistent. I am not in a rush, planning to have the first book in for editing as soon as I have chosen someone. Hope it is you! Yes, my bid is higher than some, but you will get tremendous value for your money. My method, developed over 38 years as an award-winning journalist and wordsmith, is to edit a book three times: First, to correct all errors and smooth out the rough edges; second, to add creative touches and suggest meaningful changes; third, to make sure in a final polish that the text flows flawlessly. Hi Joanne, I like quirky. Your project sounds very interesting and complex. I don't know how best to bid at this time. I would like to start with one book, see how we do together, then negotiate from there. I don't think it would be wise for either party to commit to the "marriage" without a first "date." So, just to get this straight - all your books are fiction - not based on your career? Yet, you still plan to write the exposé? I'd be very interested in that too. I have a friend with PTSD and a daughter in social work. I have a background in counseling. And - the heart of a hippy stuck in the city! I am a university-educated native English speaker with a fine eye for detail. I have lots of experience outside of this site - writing, editing, teaching creative writing and doing manuscript consultations. I know almost nothing of Australian history - is your fiction based on that? I wouldn't do any fact checking. I do, however, like it when someone (especially a woman) rewrites history well. Hi Joanne I am sorry to hear about your troubles, I find gardening helps, but you probably know that already. I have done a lot of editing and proofreading on a variety of topics. I normally charge $2 to $3 a page, but this can be negotiated according to the extent of work needed. Judging by the description of Abigail on Wattpad, not a lot of work is needed. I have a good eye for detail and like my work to be perfect; quality takes time and I don't like to rush through things as that is often when mistakes are made. Beyond that, congratulations on being so prolific, I hope it has helped with healing things. I also live on a farm, but not in the mountains; on top of a hill though.
