I am collating a bunch of messenger and email archives for analysis. The starting point is CSV. The messager archives come in a few text formats:
1. WhatsApp archive (txt)
2. Facebook Messenger archive (html)
Whatsapp chat sometimes has carriage returns.
Facebook messenger sometimes has special characters e.g. "don't" for "don't".
Want to produce a CSV file with these columns:
date, time, message app, message from, message contents.
Example rows:
30/05/17, 14.05.44, WhatsApp, James Franco, "How are you"
30/05/17, 17.09.22, Facebook, James Franco, "Some time tomorrow"
This should be handled by a command line script using split or ced / awk etc.
This should allow me to copy and paste contents of both files in something like excel so I can sort by 1) data and then by 2) time to get a collated view of message history.
This should be executed with a command line tool. Some of the html or text file inputs could have 10k-20k messages, so performance is important. You may want to use bash or ced / awk. This should not require a language like python.
