I wish to have written a website loan calculator that allows the end user to use my design on their site. They set up a simple calculator, click on "Preview" and are given the code to copy and paste on their site. The full code and js files must be secure as they are not allowed to edit, copy or change it. This is why I am thinking it might be best if it were a flash app instead.
Here is the information on the calculator:
Item 1. User builds their calculator - The design is a simple form:
Step One: The user is asked if there is a flat fee for all loans regardless of amount. Some states have a flat fee for all loans.
Step Two: The user is asked if there is a service fee for each loan. Example: State Service Fee: $50.
Step Three: If there are different amounts. The user enters an amount to be calculated. Example: If the loan amount is less than $1000 then charge $100. Or - They enter the % in a box and click a checkbox to state they only have one flat % amount.
Step Four: The user then drops down a second line (IF) there is another amount. Example: If the loan is above $1001 then charge 15%. This will handle variable rates.
Step Five: Allow 4 more tiers of payments by including a link/or button that says "Add Rate". There should also be a link to "DELETE RATE" which will delete the last rate posted.
Step Six: The user enters their name ***MANADATORY RESPONSE***
Step Seven: The user enters their company name ***MANADATORY RESPONSE***
Step Eight: The user enters their phone number ***MANADATORY RESPONSE***
Step Nine: The user enter their website address where this calculator will be used. ***MANADATORY RESPONSE***
Step Ten: The user then enters the website address of the contact page
Step Eleven: The user enters their email address ***MANADATORY RESPONSE***
Step Twelve: This information is saved to a MySQL database. I would also like to save the date/time and IP address of the person who used the calculator.
Item 2. Design (ALL CSS/JS or Flash):
Step One: The user then selects the colour of the background
Step Two: The user then selects the font colour
Step Three: The user selects the colour of the "CALL US NOW" button
or... the user is given a predetermined colour group. I think offering them this might be easier on the code if it were done in Flash/Flex
Step Three: The user then selects the width of the box
Item 3. Preview The Calculator:
This is simply a box to show what the calculator will look like to the End-User (website visitor)
Item 4. Programming the Box for the End-User (website visitor). You will code a box for the end-user to enter in their loan amounts:
Step One. The end-user enters their loan amount: Example: Loan One: $10000 the calculator then automatically updates to show fee amount. This fee also includes the amount of any service charge. So if there is a service charge of $50 plus 10% then the final value of the fee would be: $1050 ($1000 for the loan and $50 for the service charge)
Step Two: The end user has an option to add a loan. There may be a time when the person has more than one loan. So, a button or link to "ADD LOAN". This would then add a box to enter another amount. Allowing only up to 7 loans to be entered. There should also be a button to "REMOVE A LOAN"
Step Three: the end-user then has the amounts automatically calculated and can then "Click To Call" or click a button to go to do a mailto:
Step Three a: "Click to Call" This is a CSS button that grabs the phone number from Item 1, Step Eight. It automatically sets the css button for
Step Three b: "Contact Us" is a "mailto:" button that grabs the email address from Item 1, Step Eleven
Item 5. Copy the code from my site.
Step One: The user is given a "GET CODE" button where the code for the calculator is given. The user should simply click on the code once to highlight so they can copy and then paste on their site.
ALL OF THIS IS DONE ON ONE PAGE, I HAVE EXAMPLES. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS
Hello,
I would do this using php and jquery as flash is an end-of-line product that is less and less supported on platforms and a form should be html and CSS anyway. You mentioned you had examples of similar forms, please show me.
I also would like more detailed information on the IF steps. I am thinking of something like IF input (amount) below/above (dropdown) percentage/amount (input where the use can enter a fix value or a percentage) with as many of these as he needs. Is this something you have in mind?
