exe that reads/writes a variable and sends/receives over parallel port

Need an app (exe) developed that will communicate with the parallel port on Win 98 & also an XP box. (XP & 98 Can be separate exe file swith identical functionality if that eases development) **Overview:** Will be using a Macromedia Flash GUI (I will build) to communicate via an exe (you will build) with the parallel port. Open to any method on this (e.g, embedding the flash file in the app {I will need to update the flash file form time to time, so that is a required feature}, alternatively we can trigger the exe externally form the flash file using variables set in txt files (as last resort) Prefer the method that will provide the fastest most reliable response. The goal will be to control relays (which I will build). We need to do both I/O on this. In other words we will need to send (output) on 8 pins We will need to receive (collect the status) on the 5 input pins. This article may prove helpful. [login to view URL] The end result is the user will need to click a button in flash, have the exe communicate with the parallel port (on 1-8 of the output pins) and then return the result to Flash (on 1-5 of the input pins). **UPDATE ON 11/17 ** To clarify, here's how I anticipate the communication will work. (this is the basic concept, I am open to other options) **Outbound (PC to port)** When user clicks a button in flash, a variable like: "1-on", or "1-momentaryon1second", or "1-off", or "all-on", or "all-off" will be set by flash. The code you write will then translate that into the appropriate value to do the action on the specific pin in the port. e.g turn a relay connected to pin one *on* **Inbound (port to pc) ** The code you write will need to know when the state changes for the 5 input pins (e.g a relay comes turns on via a manual switch in a circuit etc...) Your code will need to communicate with Flash to let it know that this has happened, (via variables like: "1-on", or "1-momentaryon1second", or "1-off", or "all-on", or "all-off" will be set by flash)so Flash can provide feedback to the user. I am open to your suggestions for the best way of doing this. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) Exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
