Transformer for Mac

Reposting! I have an app called Transformer on the AppStore. It encrypts simple words and/or phrased into complex strings used to access secured websites as the login password. Currently it is only available on iPhone and iPod, but I want to make it compatible with Mac. I need to hire a programmer that can do this conversion based upon existing code. My previous programmer recommended that I suggest the use of Source Control which I am not familiar with, but since I put a lot of trust in his judgement, that needs to be a consideration. Anybody familiar with Source Control, please educate me on its benefits. Also, I will do all the graphics and will supply based upon your requirements.
