=> In the "formulas" ribbon on the right side, there should be an area for calculation options. Excel defaults to "automatic" - meaning when you make a change to your spreadsheet, it automatically updates. However, this can be problematic with large data sets. Changing your settings to "manual" update can help speed up your work. The spreadsheet will only update when you tell it to or when you save, but this means you can do several changes at once without waiting for the document to recalculate.
=> Remove all conditional formatting. This takes up a lot of memory and excel is constantly trying to update and recalculate the formatting.
