2D Educational Game on IOS & Android

The project is for the development of a 2D educational game as a mobile application. The educational game is targeted for 4 - 6 year olds. The child will be challenged with two levels of difficulty (with a picture and only listening to the word) and 5 different themes (colours, animals, fruit, vegetables and vehicles). Each theme will contain twelve different words. The marketing back up for this app is significant and will target one specific country. This is a unique opportunity for a developer to have a number #1 app in both play & app store. Graphics and audio will be provided and the developer will need to supply the exact requirements to satisfy the development. Full outcome tree and mockups will be provided together with detailed requirements. The app will use google app analytics. The source code will be provided and wholly owned by the contractor. The UI will be via a main menu where the child will be asked to select the level of the game and subsequently the theme. An onscreen keyboard using an extended character keyset will then show up on the bottom half of the screen. For level 1 an icon with the picture will be shown next to a number of empty white boxes equal to the length of the word. For both levels, the child will hear the word being read. The child will then need to drag the letters into the right boxes in no particular order. Upon pressing a character, the sound of the letter will be heard. When the right character is placed on one of its corresponding boxes, a successful sound will be heard. When a character is placed in a wrong box, a different sound will be heard. When the word is fully completed, a ‘successful’ sound will be heard, a fireworks animation will be shown together with a NEXT button offered. When the child presses the NEXT button, another random word will be selected. The words will not be repeated for an open instance of the game. When all words have been exhausted, the theme ends with a ‘successful’ sound and fireworks and the user is sent to the main menu again. Selection of letters, placing into a box, and other actions will trigger simple animations such as small character bounce. The user interface will also contain a few other buttons such as, “repeat word” button, “hint” button, “exit to main menu” button. A design document will be provided together with the source code. Minimum comments within code should be 25% of the total line count. Stage 1 - Pre-development A discussion on technical details will be held with developer. The outcome from the discussion, decisions of the requirements meetings in Stage 1 will be documented. Upon agreement of the requirements and specifications document, developer will be paid 10%. Stage 2 - Development Delivery of developed app will take place either as a whole or in stages as agreed during Stage 1 in agreement between both parties. The level of communication will be on a weekly basis to discuss work during the past week and the planned achievements for the following week. Stage 3 - Testing The developer will carry out sufficient testing required to produce a professional bug-free app. The allotted time for this phase is five days but may change during the discussions arising from Stage 1. User acceptance testing will be on ios & android devices. The developer will assist and provide guidance to the contractor to test the app. Stage 4 - App deployment Upon completion of stage 3, the developer will assist the contractor to place the app on the market. Once the apps are available on the respective markets for download, the contract will pay 60% of the contracted cost. Stage 5 - Post-deployment support The developer will support the app on the two platforms for the first 30 days to ensure that any bugs arising are ironed out. Following the 30 day period, the last milestone of the contract would have been reached and 30% of the remaining contracted cost will be released.
