Change current Inage carousel layout like instagram

I have an app which displays images and videos from user post. Currently, the layout is halfway-like Instagram but I need to make a few small changes to make it look completely like Instagram. The image size right now is horizontally stretched, but I want that like Instagram I can see the image in a big square. We need to make sure however that image is not cut or stretched. It should be a perfect fit like Instagram. The tasks on this project are many, and I would prefer to keep hiring the same person as possible to develop a longterm relationship. Below are screenshots attached of current app(myapp) and screenshot from the Instagram app. You can see our app takes good space horizontal but height is not big like insta.
