This work involves using MATLAB to simulate a detector array capable of efficiently detecting neutron sources in a 3d space. The detection is made possible by creating a defined function (solid angle of detectors). The function uses the randomly generated 3d coordinates (representing the neutron source) and defined 3d coordinates (representing detector position) to give out set of solid angles which is to be train with neural network and further optimised with genetic algorithm all in MATLAB.
