Try using "\" instead of "/". Also, if you are using "echo", try using "echo -e" to have those parsed. For instance: VARIABLE="$(hostname -i)" echo -e "\nYour IP address:\n\t${VARIABLE}\n" If you would like me to take a quick look over your script and adjust it for you, I would be happy to assist with that.
