It was everything I had expected from the civic plans, plus a little extra! I had arrived in Eventual with a job to do, a job that would increase both my credits, and my prospects, and I was intrigued to be here at last. The city ran on neon and liquor, and things were available here that you couldn't find outside the concrete walls, a part of me was in tourist mode. When they'd drawn up the blueprints for Eventual one of the most commended features was the transportation system, which had been replicated in all the other cities. Automated and efficient, the Hyper-Link had been designed to cut through the city's skyscape like a bullet to the brain and had been well utilized by residents, until the Uprising of 2200. After the riots, the Corporation had to make some tough decisions. They had nurtured aspirational greed; the cities needed to be self sustaining, and the tried and tested method of `control though consumerism' had always proved an effective opiate. The citizens of Eventual had to be managed.
