As the system is undefined, I would suggest to use a single link pendulum. The work is started with deriving the dynamical model of the 1-D pendulum. As the next step, the derived equation is then implemented in MATLAB. The final report will include the derivation of the model, which should be very straight forward. In fact, not many can be reported. The work can be expanded by comparing different ways of doing the simulation, such as comparing numerical simulation vs analytical simulation by using MATLAB Symbolic toolbox. But this will take more time and costs.
