Windows c++ utility function for getting file duration

We are building an application (c++ on windows 10 64 bit using libcinder) and need to get the duration of media files without opening them first. Our framework does not currently support this so we need a function that takes an absolute path as a std::string and returns a float for the number of seconds. We require it work for video and audio files (separate functions fine if required). The file formats we are dealing with so far do display this information in the explorer file properties (mp4, mp3, ogg). We would like to use native windows code and avoid additional dependancies. Some options we have not had time to explore include Propsys, Shell and Windows Code Pack APIs. The header file should only require std::string if possible, other includes should be in implementation file. Project should be delivered as a Visual Studio 2015 project using toolset v140.
