Hello!
I smiled when you mentioned Audacity because that's immediately what came to my mind.
Sure, I'm not experienced on this website (just joined) but I am experienced with audio processing. Indeed, I recently completed a thesis in which I had to extract rat vocalizations from audio files and filter out all the obstructing noise, a tough job given that the calls are ultrasonic and have very low amplitude. Furthermore, I recently agreed to remove wind noise from a friend's wedding video with great success.
From the description of your project, audacity sounds sufficient and I will try it. If audacity isn't enough though I am willing to put the time into trying some other methods like machine learning tricks in matlab. I'm not trying to make money on here for now but instead to acquire excellent ratings so I will truly try my very best here! Please consider me.
