Dear all,
I need two adjustments to a site with a shopping solution that has been developed by a programmer that has recently left our organization.
We work extensively with Internet development projects, and I dont beleive that this should take more than 3-4 hours, and probably already
exists as asp/ javascript functions, but due to our involvement in another project i am unable to assign resources to these issues for
investigation and implementation, and therefore now request service through this channel to any individual/ organization that has the
competance/ abilities to complete these tasks.
I shall be thorough in my explanation to describe the activities, and trust that only those competent to complete the tasks in the
immediate future will respond to this assignment. I should also like to maek clear the proposal that should the assignment be completed
and implemented on time, within, budget, and as defined. Then I should like to extend the opportunity to long term co-operation with our
organization. As well as all technical upgrades and maintenance for the forementioned site with the shopping solution.
The shopping solution makes use of a simple asp ecommerce solution known commonly as the UltraDev Cart. This cart component has been
modernized by www.charon.co.uk.
Our site makes use of this shopping solution using V2. All source code, and documentation, including Dreamweaver extensions if needed for
this cart solution can be downloaded from this site through this URL: [login to view URL]
There are however several alterations to the Charon Cart V2 made use by our site.
The main being:
Our solution resides upon SQL2000 server and not Access, as used in the Charon Cart V2 download.
Our solution is based in Norway upon a Norwegian server, selling products in dollars, not english pounds and so makes use of
session.lcid=1044, and a small javascript function formating the currency string with a . not a , which is default on the Norwegian
language and locale settings.
Our needs are the following:
TASK ONE:
We have 3 seperate product categories (Each product Category has its own table in the database). A function needs to be produced for the
basket page ([login to view URL]).
One of the categories provides the user with discount. If a user should add 5 products to his/ her cart from the specified category (from
the relevant table), then the user will only need to pay for 3 of his/ her 5 purchases. Likewise if he/ she should add 10 then he/ she
should only pay for 6. Since all of the products within this category (table) are the same price, i believe this should only be a question
of the function checking the total of products from this category and discounting 40%. I.e for every 5 the user is actually only charged for 3. So for the user adding 1-4 products from this category he/ she receives no discount.
Payment structure can be seen below
Number of Products In Category Price to pay Savings
------------------------------ ------------ -------
1 $19,95 0
2 $39,90 0
3 $59.85 0
4 $79.80 0
5 $59.85 2 products free
6 $79.80 2 products free
7 $99.75 2 products free
8 $119.70 2 products free
9 $139.65 2 products free
10 $119.70 4 products free
11 $121.65 4 products free
etc.
etc.
15 $179.55 6 products free
Though it is unlikely that the user will ever purchase more than 15 products in one sessions, I would prefer the script to work around the
multiple of 5 and therefore in theory allow the user to continue to receive discounts at 30, 135, 230 etc., etc., purchase levels.
TASK TWO:
In the charon cart only one product can be added to the basket at a time. The cart illustrates the sale of real world products.
In our solution. The user is purchasing electronic products in differing colours. For example one product is available in 6 different
colours. Each colour is an entry into its relevant database table so for example inputting 2 products results in 12 entries.
DATABASE TABLE EXAMPLE
------------------------
Product name Colour Price
------------ ----- -----
Box Red 19,95
Box Blue 19,95
Box Green 19,95
Box Orange 19,95
Box Purple 19,95
Box Yellow 19,95
Circle Red 19,95
Circle Green 19,95
Circle Yellow 19,95
Circle Orange 19,95
Circle Purple 19,95
Circle Blue 19,95
On the product page of the solution the user is presented with one product at a time to purchase in any of the 6 various colours (the user
is therefore presented with 6 database product entries at a time).
the user is free to check the checkboxes beside each colour before pressing the Add button and submitting the form to the
[login to view URL] page, and therefore add one, two, three, four, five, or six products to his /her cart.
If the user does this today, he / she receives the asp error
error '80020009'
Exception occurred.
[login to view URL], line 32, and the products are not added.
This must function, and the user must be able to add as many of the six products to his/ her cart, as he/ she wishes.
The successful candidate will of course be provided with server access.
Thanking you in advance for your consideration.
