The background: I have car suspension, which has four electronically adjusted coilovers, with compression and rebound. Each suspension has a separate 4 wire bipolar stepper motor for compression and rebound. I would like to adjust these using a + and - button and I would like the adjustment to be displayed on a remote display -1.8" full colour 128x160 LCD display (ST7735S - 3.3v which I have already purchased). Each suspension must be individually selectable/adjustable AND the front/Rear must be adjustable (coupling the front/rear suspension for adjustability). This via a 5v rotary potentiometer with minimum 8 defined positions. Other rotary positions will used for other functions on the car ECU (seperate to this project). -attached 'rough diagram' will give a better idea Few more details: -Suspension has a total movement from 1 to 32 for compression and/or rebound (eg can be 32 comp and 2 rebound on one shock). -Suspension to be controlled by seperatae (Normally Open) buttons for + and - -All electronics in a box. Box has seperate connections for: - voltage/ground, - each stepper motor - the remote mounted display. - rotary position dial Arduino/etc to control stepper motor, count up/down and + and - buttons to move stepper motor 1 step either way. Remote mount colour display with static words (compression/rebound) and changing numbers (counting with steps). The program has to limit the stepper motor to a maximum number of steps up and down (0-32) and stepper motor location stored in memory (kept after power down). -separate stepper motor for compression and rebound. 4 wire bipolar stepper motor.

I have made more than 200 Arduino-based projects on different freelance stocks. I work with Arduino since 2010 and have more than 25 years of experience in programming and electronics. On my opinion, rotary potentiometer is not ideal for switching of the modes because it is not have mechanical fixation of the positions, however I can do it. But after a short discussion I may propose the most reliable solution for that part. Other parts are clear and I can do it and also test it here (I have all necessary hardware for it, including a display).

Hi, I already worked in the "racing" environment for an Australian guy. Just google "radospeed" and ask Walter for a reference about my jobs for him. BTW, I saw you're using Holins suspension, some research has to be made in order to be sure that there's no any custom/weird motor arrangement. Also I suppose that later on you'll need a linear potentiometer to measure the extension of the coil to be sure you're not having hit too hard or to soft. Let me know if you wish to talk about it. BTW, the bid is just to write in a number, if I have to produce the circuits and deliver them we have to find an arrangement, as per my previous experience just the delivery is some 50 bucks. Also please beware that we are 12 timezones apart so my answer could not be very quick ;-) Alex.
