Assessment Details Unit Title: Organisations and Resource Management Unit Code: HRM367 Assessment Type: Written Restrictions on Time/Length : 2000 words Individual/Group: Individual Assessment Task You are required to research an organisation within Southampton and write a report outlining: * Introduce the nature and purpose of the organisation; * Explain the sector that the organisation operates in and compare it with another organisation working in a different sector. You are expected to cover the main differences (if any). What are the benefits/challenges for your chosen organisation of working in this sector? * Give an explanation of your chosen organisation’s current position and the environment it is working in. This will then explain the business strategy. (You need to include a PESTLE as an appendix and ensure your discussion about the PESTLE is included in the main body of the report); * What is the organisational structure and leadership of your chosen organisation? (You need to include a diagram or chart as an Appendix to illustrate this point); * Who has responsibility for people resourcing within your chosen organisation and how is it achieved? * How does your chosen organisation achieve its strategic aim of developing an engaged, skilled and motivated workforce? * What are the challenges of financial and human resource management for the organisation? 2 / 9 This assignment relies on you researching an organisation in Southampton. As part of your research you will establish the business environment of Southampton. Throughout your discussion you will be expected to show; 1. Your have researched your subject within Southampton; 2. Supported your discussion with the theories and concepts introduced in the lectures; 3. Show reading of academic literature from a wide breadth of literature and link this into your discussion; 4. Demonstrate professionalism in your report through your presentation, organisation, format and referencing. Word Count The word count is 2,000 words. The Introduction which includes the background of the chosen organisation and explains the nature and purpose is not included in this word count. Also any items such as the organisation chart and PESTLE are not included in the word count and should be Appendix items. Do divide your word count according to the marking criteria. If a marking criteria has 20% then 20% of your word count should be on this section. Format of the Report The format of the Report should include be in Arial 12 with 1.5 line spacing. All sections should be numbered and you should include a contents page. HARVARD referencing should be used throughout and a Bibliography with a full list of resources should be included. The report should include all the sections of the marking criteria.
