Hello,
I am looking for a shell script to run on my Linux server that does the following things:
1. Compresses log files from a previous month to a single compressed file
2. Transfers the compressed file to another server via SCP
3. Deletes the original log files and the compressed file after transfer
As an example, I have the following folder and files:
/WEB/LOGS/[login to view URL]
/WEB/LOGS/[login to view URL]
/WEB/LOGS/[login to view URL]
/WEB/LOGS/[login to view URL]
etc
On August 1, I would have a cronjob run the script that would take all of the 2014-07 log files, compress them into a single file, transfer the file, and delete the originals.
Thank you!
Hi,
I have written this kind of shell scripts before for Apache log management.
I can implement this script within 1-2 hours.
Let me know if you are interested.
Thanks,
Ahmed
