Hi. Open Edx is a complex software with a lot of dependencies and there several ways for install it. I recommend the way that run ubuntu with native packages. But, be advice, installation process can be break ubuntu install so when ubuntu install berak it, we need reinstall ubuntu. Other point is hardware requirements (Minimum 8GB of memory, At least one 2.00GHz CPU or EC2 compute unit, Minimum 25GB of free disk, 50GB recommended for production servers, according project documentation page) I can help you installing your Open Edx software without problem into your local server but we need find a way for work into your local server.
