  can i change those six boxes from where they originally were like mowing them apart sideways or bringing them closer to the door

     Mmm... yeah they can be closer or further from the door. Sideways will proof to be more difficult. But in the end that should be possible too. If it greatly enhances your design, I would say to go for it.
